Introduction-

North Carolina tries every year to be highest performing state education wise, but why does it not try to be the greenest state too? This can be achieved by putting more recycling laws into place, and by starting recycling programs in North Carolina schools. There are laws that help North Carolina become a little greener, like the law that was enacted on October 1, 2009 that states all plastic bottles have to be recycled, but these are only small steps. Becoming the greenest state is like climbing a mountain; there are so many obstacles that will make it more difficult, but when we are at the top, the climb and the outcome is worth it. Instead of taking small steps, a big leap should be taken. If North Carolina created a law that required every grade school in North Carolina to have a recycling program the benefits would outweigh the costs.
